Cate not only loves science and learning, but she also has a passion for helping others and making a difference in this world.
“I volunteered in a NICU at a hospital, and I knew each time that I was there that I loved being a part of making a difference. I decided to apply for the Women in Science scholarship because of my love for science and the foundation’s amazing work.”
Cate will carry on Lea’s legacy in her studies as a student at The University of Notre Dame this Fall as a Science Major. “I see so many needs in our world right now. I want to make a difference in the lives of others. Lea Marie’s passion was to provide as normal of a life as possible for young people living with cystic fibrosis or other chronic illnesses, while living with an illness herself. The determination she had to make a difference is inspiring, but the fact that she was successful at it while living with cystic fibrosis herself is amazing and provides me with more confidence that one day I too will be able to make a difference in someone’s life.”
